Khudabad was ruled by the Kalhorah Dynasty in the 17th and 18th centuries and the Jamia Masjid Khudabad was built by Mian Nur Muhammad who established his court at Khudabad. The Kalhorahs built a number of mosques but the Jamia Masjid Khudabad, also known as the Badshahi Masjid, was by far the largest and most elegant of them all. Much like other mosques during the early Islamic period, Masjid Khudabad served the purpose of a school for imparting education. Unlike other mosques, it also served as an important space for providing military training.
